‘Going to Melkham was always going to be a tough ask. Melkham are one of the strongest sides in the region with a host of county and academy representatives and us, a newly formed team with only a handful of experienced players. The scoreline reflected the gulf in individual ability BUT there was no gulf in character, bravery and fight. We remained physical at the breakdown and scrummaged well. Most impressive thing was our refusal to lie down and a bit more ball retention we could added a couple more to our single try we scored. Credit to Melkham, they have some outstanding players with pace to burn but our girls never went away and I could not be more proud of them. We will only get better!!!!’ Simon Walker.
